M204 in Seremban
We started off with C1/07 Orientation
Along our hectic schedule, we found time to do charity work in Ding's agent's Church
Not forgetting our Kg. Tekir, our adopted village where we did our charity work.Of course there were also plenty of birthday celebrations.
Hau Chun's birthday
Sau Tjun's birthday
Ding's birthday
FengY's birthday
Zhi Yong's birthday
Then there was also our pseudoconvocationAnd during holidays, some of us found ourselves on a trip to Redang
Some of us also had the time to go to Melaka
Of course there were still many more memorable moments which were not captured in pictures. But, for you guys out there, know that we all here in Seremban are still alive and kicking. It is after all, 3 more days to the end of our Semester 6, 4 more days to our 3 weeks holiday. See you guys around! =)Thursday, April 19, 2007

Seremban, here we come!
2 more days to Seremban, actually 1 more for me since I am moving in tomorrow! Am now blogging on a laptop which feels uber weird! And talk about weird, wait till you see Seremban. Really you get the culture shock!
First of all, Seremban people are a bit uncreative. Especially the developers. This scenario might have gone through their heads while they were planning.
Some couple of years ago...
Boss : Last night, I dreamt of a Utopian place in Seremban! It will be a single row of houses. This is a new concept, my dear subordinate! A single row of house with 5 rooms in it! With a lake overviewing it. Yes, how ideal!
Subordinate : Boss, boss, sounds like an excellent idea Boss! You are very the smart! No wonder all of us work under you boss!
Boss : Yes, I know that *beaming proudly*Subordinate : So boss, what shall we name it?
Boss : Well, we already have Seremban, Seremban 2. We must be different from those developers! We must have our own unique identity! We shall thus name it Seremban 3! What a perfect name!
Subordinate : *pengsan*
Next would be something I spotted in Seremban town yesterday. A bus crawled past us. And you can't imagine how packed the bus was! All the seats were taken. All the standing place were taken. And to top it off, there were people standing even on the steps and just hanging outside the door! WOW! Seremban is really marvellous! If you get molested in such condition, you know why.
Apart from that, Seremban 3 is really 'serene' and 'tranquil'. Perfect place for retiring dudes. In fact, it is so peaceful that when Hai Liang was cleaning the toilet and singing Gemilang, I can hear it from 2 houses away. And Hai Liang was pretty sexcited, opps.. excited when a neighbour asked him what he is studying and told him she has a daughter. LOL.
Well, that's all I guess! I'm off to pack stuff! I really don't know what to not pack. I feel like bringing everything there since Seremban is so close. Give me a weight limit and I can work better with it! Not like this! So, off to Seremban tomorrow! Bye bye KL! Aloha Dato' Kew and co!
p.s. Did I mention that during Orientation week, there is a slot called Seremban Nightlife Tour? And it starts circa 4.30pm. Weird!

Thinking of what to pack
As for our list, since we know it is possible to bring things, even large items like sofa :O Yes, if all goes well, we will have a sofa set. And possibly a mini library full of medical books, you can donate your photostated copy too =) But of course, the true library belongs to Wong Sifu's gang who have already started moving.
Anyway, this list of stuff to bring just keeps growing longer and longer. Sometimes, I wished it was possible just to move the entire house over. LOL. Save us all the trouble of thinking of common everyday stuff that you will totally overlook to bring. Things like nail clipper, or waste paper basket. How many of you thought of bringing nail clipper to PMS ?

Seremban Beckons
Announcing the new arrival
Well, since I am only a blogger in here, I can whine about how I don't quite like the template, can I Raj or Debbie =) Or I can ask why isn't this blog site even mentioned in the M204 AtTraction, unless I missed it, which is also highly likely, since I scanned through the magazine at a speed faster than I read Professor Yeoh Peng Nam's pharmaco notes ^^
Okay, I shall think of something to write, and write more the next time. As for now, enjoy your holidays and good luck for this Monday. Results! Nervous-nye!
Hrmm, who says Ganesh will be Gold Medallist, please type Ganesh in the chatterbox somewhere on the site la ^^

TIPS FOR EOS....by Johan Siow da batch repo(http://johansiow.blogs.friendster.com/a_medical_student_johannu/)
[17 July. Day 1. PC (problem case).
Woke up a bit feverish from post-influenza (wuz havin flu since Wednesday the week b4), made worst by the usual Monday blues and the fact that today was also the first day of a VERY iMPORTANT exam.
Zipped thru Health Issues on PUTRA LRT until Masjid Jamek, then switched over to MSK and CNS anatomy notes on STAR LRT. Suddenly, after years of cursing dr.Nilesh's crayzee anatomy lecture notes, u realise that u dun need a Netters beside u to revise his notes, they're so damn complete u just have to imagine his words as pictures in ur head (the notes being all text and no pictures at all).
Forced myself to swallow 3 of Pakcik's doughnuts even when no appetite, hypoglycemia makes the brain operate slowly.
Blogged during the last few minutes (ref. previous blog), couldnt get into relaxin pre-exam alpha-waves, all theta-waves mode (the waves u get when ur havin a nightmare, sleepwalking or wet dream), panic like crap. Ran down to MPH, den ran up again cuz forgot calculator, ran back down, then finally sat down at MPH, my heart pounding, my pulse bounding and blood gushing up into my head.
Dead silence, only sound of lecturer announcing instructions and hundreds of pages rustling as everyone quickly fill up ID no. on each page of exam booklet (cannot finish filling up even when time started).
Problem case paper a killer 3 hours. 300 marks. Crap, apparently damn alot of past year questions came out, felt a bit regret din do past years b4 dis (but must thank Frazier and gang for trying to make me feel guilty telling me some of the past year Qs 10 minutes b4 exam started, Health Issues “Lead” came out, 4 marks). To all u juniors reading dis, if u want the easy way out, do past year. If u wan to be a real doctor, take pride in NOT doing past year. Then can call urself a REAL “A” STUDENT (cehhh…action onli…).
Not easy paper, had to crap alot. Never made up so much of nonsense in my life since EOS-3. After 2.5 years in IMU, learn to crap convincingly in exams, like pro…
Day 2. OSPE (objective sumthin sumthin examination).
OSPE another killer. For the non-IMU ppl, OSPE is like station game. Got rows of stations, each station have model, chart or picture. Ur armed with a pen and a question booklet. Each student starts at one station, buzzer shrieks every 5 minutes, change station. Damn stress kind of exam, not much time to think. 5 minutes up, a very loud and shocking “BZZZT!!!” (pray u dun wet ur pants) and u move on, u following ur friend in front while ur friend follows u behind. Got a few rest stations for u to catch ur breath, and catch up with any questions u had no time to answer.
Day 3 (and day 4, got 2 parts). OSCE (objective sumthin sumthin examination...).
Dis wan damn obvious, lecturers at each station help students score A LOT. As if IMU wan to make sure everyone pass (ie. so more ppl go to Seremban ie. RM31,000 per semester per student).
OSCE is also like station game, except u switch rooms at CSU (Clinical Skills Unit) every 5 minutes. No exam booklet, only armed with stethoscope, pen torch and tendon hammer. No chance to turn back, just keep moving forward. Each station (or room) got one simulated patient and one lecturer who grades u there and then. Got rest station for u to breathe properly again, and to commend ur soul to any god who would by chance be listening to u at that moment (and maybe reveal to u the questions of the next station?).
Here is where ur clinical skills are assessed, followed by sum clinical questions. Here is oso where they see whether u can work under stress. A lot of stress. The most tension paper of EOS.
ECG was murder. Heard lecturer say almost everyone failed that station. Dr.TimSoong, why u wan to kill everyone la…
Kena one of the CSU tigers for one station, and damn unlucky, kena the worst one: dr.FrancisAchike (the other two are dr.TimSoong and dr.HtinAung, not as eccentric as dr.Francis). Crap, he din say a damn thing thru out the whole station. Just ask me to examine the back of patient (simulated patient oso like damn scard of him).
I ask patient to sit on bed and twist his back, dr.Francis ask me what am I doing that for. I said to test thoracic vertebrae range of movement. He just stared at me. I thought he must have had an attack of temporary deafness, so I repeated my answer. “Are u sure?” I said yeah. “Are u sure?” in a slightly different tone. I said yes, doctor, the test is for the thoracic vertebrae. He continued to stare, so I stared back.
Dunno why his stare was stronger and more penetrating, I finally lost confidence and said okay, u win, its for the lumbar vertebrae. “Are u sure?” ***Goddamnit, man, make up ur mind !!!*** Um…I think its thoracic… “Are u sure not lumbar?” Okay, fine, doctor, FINE, u want lumbar, take it…geezzz…
Come out that time realized I had been tricked; it was thoracic vertebrae all along. A-R-G-H !!! Spent my time at rest station tearing my hair out in frustration.
At my last station, I had to do a facial nerve examination on Michael's face (an Indian simulated patient, one of the regular ones), under the expressionless and watchful face of Anita's mum (Seremban examiner) which refused to betray any clue as to whether i wuz doing well or slowly screwing up that station. She asked me to demonstrate the jaw jerk reflex. Crap, lecturers say tap hammer at mentalis muscle, books say at temporo-mandibular joint. Not sure which one. She ask which one i trust more, i answered temporo-mandibular. She snickered at me. Crap.
Oh well, i finished all of her questioning and sat down with a sigh of relief, what with a few minutes left b4 the end.
Then, as the whole world suddenly paused to listen to that one last atom vibrate and fall into place in tandem with the heartbeat of the universe…
…the clock struck 11.30am.
BZZT, BZZT, BZZZZZZT!!! went the final buzzer. Anita's mum congratulated me for ending EOS-5 and asked me where my future was taking me to. I said Seremban, she said hope to see u there, and i replied with confidence "Looking forward to studyin under u, doctor...".
And left.
So that was it, my last words, my life at IMU, ended at a cranial nerve station, station 1B, ground floor of CSU, 11.30am, 20 July, with Anita's mum as my final witness.
The End.
Post-EOS: Post-quarantine for 2 hours in a stuffy Seminar Room 2, cuz we go in batches for OSCE, cannot fit 192 students into CSU at one time. An angry mr.PaulJambunathan (coordinator for OSCE stations) came in with news that sum idiot had leaked sum questions out to the pre-quarantine batch. Roll-called, cannot find culprit.
Nothing to do, laze around, talk nonsense with friends and ate damn a lot of quarantine biscuits (Julie’s brand, time to free-load!). Damn-near-finished the whole tin myself. Became a wee bit nausea after dat. Oh god, I will scream if I see another Julie’s biscuit, yuckz....]
so key is complete ALL ya past year Q....ther is some circulating questions of m203 & m104 as well...go ask around....Its better to do past year Q & not regret then not doing then regret....:)
cheers mates...all da best for EOS
